Yvonne Barclay

Yvonne Barclay was born in Ayrshire, Scotland and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and at the National Opera Studio.  She has sung principal roles with Scottish Opera, Opera North, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, English National Opera, Opera Northern Ireland, Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, Bremen Oper and Leipzig Oper.

Her roles include Susanna The Marriage of Figaro, Blonde Die Entfuhrung, Eurydice Orpheus in the Underworld, Lucia The Rape of Lucretia, Gretel Hansel and Gretel, Melisande Pelleas et Melisande, Norina Don Pasquale and Zerlina Don Giovanni.  For the Royal Opera she has sung Frasquita Carmen, High Priestess Aida, Barbarina Le Nozze di Figaro, Papagena Die Zauberflote and Javotte Manon.

Yvonne’s recording credits include First Niece in the Grammy award winning recording of Peter Grimes for Chandos and Josephine HMS Pinafore for D’Oyly Carte.  She enjoys a busy concert career and is a frequent guest soloist on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night.

She is now a member of the chorus of the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and last season appeared as Lap Dancer! (Anna Nicole) and 3rd Sprite (Cendrillon).
